This is a classic example that if managed well with proper medications, regular checkup & healthy lifestyle, even severe heart disease patients can survive for many years with good quality, active life, without surgery or angioplasty.
Mr. A.L.Thomas : (R: 079- 2693921467 )
Mr. A.L. Thomas, 61 years, hypertensive male, underwent coronary balloon angioplasty in 2002 after a heart attack. He developed angina again with new blockages and underwent another angioplasty in 2005, June. He also had one episode of transient stroke (paralysis) in 1998. After second angioplasty, within few weeks, he started getting angina again. At this stage he enrolled in Cardio Uno’s cardiac rehabilitation & prevention program. With proper medicines, supervised exercise program, diet & yoga, Mr. A.L. Thomas is completely a symptomatic & exceptionally fit person. At 61 years he does 30 min treadmill at 6 km ph, 30 min of cycling daily and 30 min of weight training thrice a week. He is exceptionally fit for his age and happy with his quality of life & Cardio Uno Program.
Mr. Sanjay Shah: (R: 982535802 )
34 years, multi-vessel CAD,treated without surgery /angioplasty.
This 34 years old insurance agent developed heart attack in Feb.2004 and was treated successfully with streptokinase injection which could dissolve the blood clot and reverse the heat attack.
His angiogram ( Feb. 2004) showed three severe blockages - 95%,99% & 85% in his major coronary arteries. He was strongly advised immediate bypass surgery. Due to financial constraints and personal dislike for bypass surgery Sanjay Shah decided to take medical treatment and cardio uno exercise program.
Within 1 month of the program he lost 5 kg weight, his treadmill test performance improved by 170%, his fitness index increased by 155%, his cholesterol went down by 47% and his medicines requirement went down by 30%. Today even after 4 years also he is asymptomatic and walks 3 to 4 km. daily and had no chest pain episode so far.
Babubhai shah
61 yr. Old male having hypertension and stable severe Triple Vessel Disease was referred to us by Dr. R.I. Kapadia for rehabilitation & health education program on 22/1/2004. Patient was fairly regular & complaint in exercise, diet & health education class attendance
He achieved excellent control of his risk factors with impressive decrease in overall CAD risk score (from 12 down to just 2). He achieved excellent weight control with loss of 8 kg in months. His fitness index (conditioning index - WL / DP) also improved significantly (94% increase). His LDL cholesterol decreased by 58%, cholesterol decreased by 43% and HDL had trivial 5% decrease (possibly due to stringent dietary fat restriction). His body fat % decreased by 12.8% and w/h ratio decreased by 2%. His treadmill test peak performance however remained unaltered with somewhat more St - T changes compared to previous TMT S/O Significant Coronary Ischemia.
